So I find myself home alone one evening ... I want to do something productive, but I can only do so much. It's a day where I have already done a bit of yoga, and that's about all I can physically manage in one day (if that).
But I still have that huge push to do something. I don't particularly feel up to learning how to create a new drawing or how to work with watercolors, my mind is a bit blank for poetry, but I am wanting to do something artistic.
Well, I have a LIST of requests burning a hole in my notepad, so I though I would take the first step to preparing to upload these requests onto youtube.
I write out the lyrics in a notebook, then I write down the suggested chords from Ultimate Guitar.
Although most of the songs I have found online have had nearly all of the chords right, step two is always ensuring that the chord progressions are correct. It doesn't matter if the key is correct - the key is a simple thing to change - but the progression itself needs to be right, or it will screw up the song (or in some cases, it will screw up my memory of the song and the song will come out entirely different from the original - not on purpose).
Anyways - so step one is taking the lyrics and the chords and writing them down in a notebook.
Yes I still physically write them.
Typing them or just printing off the actual pages from Ultimate Guitar that include the chords only works when it is a song I know really well. Even then, I'd prefer to write it all out. Helps me learn the songs better when I write them out myself. And then I always have the song in a notebook that I can physically archive...you know, in case technology fails us.
Step one is nearly complete. The list of active songs I am currently beginning to learn includes 24 songs.
I have a long way to go!
I promise that I will get your requests up - it will just take time.
Don't forget - new tunes are uploaded every month on the last Friday.
Here is a throwback request to keep you busy until I start working through my list.
I Will Remember You - Sarah McLachlan
