January Youtube Videos

With January having just ended means that there are new videos up on Youtube!

The first video is a throwback to a live performance when I was singing in a rock band. Being trained in mostly classical music, I was nervous about auditioning for a rock band. At first, my voice was far too small to pull off many of the classic rock songs that people love, and I was very unsure of myself. As time went on, though, not only did I gain a hell of a repertoire, but it helped my voice became much more powerful, as well as increasing my belting vocal range. It is safe to say that I adored singing rock. I mean, I LOVED singing rock.
The only problems that arose were my health and knowing that prolonged rock belting would eventually ruin my voice. I have always had a pretty clear sound, and I did not want to lose that clarity because I was belting and growling. Several years after leaving the rock stage, I miss it dearly.
The first song is So Hard by Sass Jordan

The second song has been in my repertoire since the very beginning. It is a beloved country song that always tugs on the heart strings.

The third song in this list happens to be one of my all-time favourite love songs. I first heard it in the movie Shall We Dance (with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez), then immediately went out to buy the soundtrack because of it. Once I moved away from home, I wound up losing all of my cds and, therefore, lost the song. A year or two ago I heard it randomly again and immediately recognized the music - so I re-downloaded it and was committed to learning it to perform it myself.
The third song in this list is Book of Love by Peter Gabriel

I love My Musical Life!
