March & April Videos

Music has become such a foundation during these difficult times - for people like me and for people who simply enjoy listening to music.

I know it seems to take me FOREVER to get requests up to Youtube. I have a list of requests, always a page-full, that I am in some part of the process of learning at all times.
I usually prepare the list (and who has requested the songs), and then I download the songs and begin listening to them. I then write out the lyrics and chords to each song, and finally get around to practicing and learning them both in accompaniment and vocally.
If I was 100% focused on this request list and working on it a few hours every single day, it wouldn't take me so long to get the videos up. Alas, that isn't possible. So I get them up whenever I can!

Another part of My Musical Life that I have been focusing a little more time on, as of late, is live-streaming concerts. I have held three since the pandemic hit (along with five previous performances in the years prior). I have done a larger 2 hour live-stream, a short 20 minute live-stream of all of my original songs, then a 1 hour live-stream the other day with some of my old classic favourites (which are slower than my usual set list these days).
Of course, I had to get my own Covid-19 parody song up there, so there is a parody of Drops of Jupiter - currently only available on my Facebook page. It will be added to youtube in the coming weeks.

I have also been downloading sheet music to some old popular instrumental tunes- like "Für Elise" and "Love Story", as well as "Moonlight Sonata". I have no clue when I will have these learned well enough to put up on Youtube, but I have no doubt that I will get there.

Above all, I am always working on one musical project or another.

The videos available on Youtube for March include:

"Darling, Say You'll Love Me When I'm Old" by Catriona

"Maggie May" by Rod Stewart

The videos for April include:

"Autumn Leaves" by Frank Sinatra

"Shoot to Thrill" by AC/DC from the old rock band days

"Crocus" by the Dearhearts

Original Tune live-stream

"Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen

"Feels Like Home" by Chantal Kreviazuk

Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter weekend - even though we all have to be apart from one another. It will be a year of learning how to celebrate all sorts of holidays virtually - to keep every single one of us safe. Be sure to watch for all of the incredible live-streaming concerts that have popped up - from well-known and relatively unknown artists alike!

I love My Musical Life!

As an aside: I have FINALLY seen THREE different Operas in the past month! I had not actually watched a real live Opera until this pandemic arose and The Met Opera released some live-streaming content to their app (The Met Opera On Demand). I am so enthralled with each production I was fortunate enough to watch and feel much more proud of my experience and degree in Music, with a focus on classical music and opera. Such a fantastic display of musical prowess.
