Summer Music Break

This whole year has been a rollercoaster, filled with canceled plans, fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants days, and constant question marks.

When this year started, we had a fairly concrete plan about what we wanted to devote our time and energy towards, and one included a potential honeymoon, the other was a heavy focus on music.
I had intended for 2020 to be my musical year. I wanted to focus on recording, on writing new songs, and really devoting each week to something musical. I was also hoping to go out for auditions, open mic nights, or volunteer pub performances, things I may normally shy away from.

Well, a few things changed.
First, Covid showed up and instantly put a stop to any talk of honeymooning this year. It also removed the potential of more auditions, open mic nights, or public performing.

The second change was an improvement in my energy. It's not much, but it is enough for me to notice and feel compelled to take advantage of. That meant that my plan to work on recording took a back seat and a focus on spending time outside, working on the yard, and taking a few camping trips took precedence. Add in some new cooking and baking goals, dog training, kayaking ventures, and music is temporarily put on the back-burner -> still a passion but less of the primary focus.

So my musical 2020 year turned into something different - wonderfully different, despite Covid complications.

We claimed our summer, so hopefully the autumn weather will create a focus change that brings me back to my musical endeavours.

For now, reading the words of Julie Andrews on our rocking bench on our front porch is my current musical focus - and I am loving it!
