Every December we bake 

Cookies for Santa's big night

But before Santa even gets here

The cookies have disappeared

We've tried

Chocolate Chip and Gingerbread and Shortbread and Sugar

Peanut Butter, Thumbprint, and Macarons

Meringues in the shape of snowmen or Santa

One year we even made fudge

But Santa doesn't eat my cookies

No, Santa doesn't get my cookies

I stay up every Christmas Eve

And Daddy always eats them first

We've tried

Chocolate Chip and Gingerbread and Shortbread and Sugar

Butter Tart and White Chip Macadamia Nut

Lemon Cakes with Poppyseed and Red Velvet Cheesecake

One year we even made fudge 

Next year I'll put out carrots and eggnog 

'Cause Daddy doesn't like the taste

And after midnight, when Daddy goes to bed

I'll put the sugar cookies in their place
