Run Away To Mars cover song

It has been a minute, but I finally got a chance to record some new cover songs for Youtube. 

Published today is a cover of TALK's "Run Away To Mars". 

This song has become one of my new favourite songs. Such a great feel to it.

It also sparked a super interesting conversation about how different a song can sound based on instruments (including voice). My husband mentioned that he didn't expect me to go so high with the song. He noticed the octave jump in the chorus and that it sounded as though I added it - which I didn't. The original song has the same vocal range - though I find that it's really common for male vocalists to make that octave jump from the verses to the chorus without always being noticed, and with ease. They make it sound really easy! 

Plus, like other songs with wider ranges, the original artist often stays in one vocal register throughout, whereas I have to switch to my falsetto in order to create the soft cover feel that I was intending. 

Love this song. Love singing this song. And I love how totally different the versions can sound.
