Monday Confession

I have a confession to make that is a little embarrassing.

Before I reveal it, I need to explain some backstory.
I started voice lessons when I was 5 years old. I competed in local and provincial Kiwanis Festival competitions definitely by age 7, perhaps earlier. I was performing in musicals by age 8. Competitions that I entered included songs in Latin, Italian, French, German, and English, and were in the Classical genre. By the time I entered University, I was well-versed in Classical vocal music as well as musical theater, and for the Music portion of my combined degree, I got to focus on more Classical music - including pieces for Operas and even a few full Arias.
It is one of my first loves.
Even now I enjoy going through all of my former competition pieces and I still remember my favourite classical songs and still have them memorized by heart - even some pieces from when I was 11 or 12 years old.
Here's the confession: I have never been to the Opera.
Ever.
Even in University I was far too busy to attend any productions the program put on. I went to recitals, of course, but never any of the Opera productions. I missed out.
I have now been living in a city that puts on productions all year long, and I even went to school with some of the vocalists that are employed by the company... yet I have still never been.
Kind of embarrassing for a serious vocal student.

Maybe after the wedding we'll go!! :)
