How Long Will I Love You?

As I am writing out the lyrics and chords for my Christmas and More binder, I came across a song that is relatively new to me.
I had the distinct pleasure of singing the following song for a friend's wedding last year. I had not heard this song before they asked me to sing it, and it has now become one of my absolute favourite songs to sing and perform. There is something intimate about the melody, something uplifting about the lyrics, with great depth in the metaphors.

Click here to watch my cover of this tune by Ellie Goulding.

And here are the lyrics and chords for my version of this song:

How Long Will I Love You – Ellie Goulding

D                                 A
How long will I love you?
G                       D
As long as stars are above you
G           E                A
And longer if I can

D                                  A
How long will I need you
G                               D
As long as the seasons need to
G  E                     A
Follow their plan

G                             F#m
How long will I be with you?
G                          F#m
As long as the sea is bound to
G  Em                          A
Wash upon the sand

D                                  A
How long will I want you?
G                     D
As long as you want me to
G    E                      A
And longer by far
D                                 A
How long will I hold you?
G                                 D
As long as your father told you
G    E                      A
As long as you are

G                               F#m
How long will I give to you?
G                F#m
As long as I live to you
G       Em                                 A
And however long you say

D                                 A
How long will I love you?
G                       D
As long as stars are above you
G    E                        A
And longer if I may

D                                  A
How long will I love you?
G                      D
As long as stars are above you                                       end on D
