Today I got to play piano and sing for a wedding. It was kind of a last minute booking and I am SO SO glad that I got to be a part of this wedding.
It was a beautiful church wedding, smiles all around, and a wonderful service.
Although I was a little nervous, I loved every minute of performing for this wedding.
I can only remember three piano mistakes that may have been noticeable, with two of them occuring within the prelude tunes as people were being seated. That's a total win for me!
I got to play on a baby grand piano - one that is very well kept. Opening the cover on the keys revealed the velvet key protector. Pristine condition. To add to that, the microphone was already at the piano and the PA system was on.
I got there super early, so I had a lot of time to acquaint myself with the instrument, to practice, and to mentally prepare.
The only hiccup was that we had chosen a specific song for the Offertory, but no official/traditional Offertory was performed, so I had to move that song to the list of Communion songs.
Other than that one surprise change in the order, I felt as though the entire service went very smoothly. I left the church feeling confident and thrilled that I had the honour of providing music for such a wonderful event.
I love love loved it.
I love My Musical Life!
